Smart charging

smarter way to charge your electric car

Smart charging - what is it?

Smart charging is intelligent functions that automate, optimize, and improve the efficiency of charging electric cars. Smart charging is a key element in integrating electric vehicles into modern energy networks, contributing to more sustainable energy use.

Smart charging - for whom?

Employment of smart charging

For home - dynamic charging power to protect your connection (DLB)

With an integrated energy meter, the wallbox can be installed even with limited power, using only the available power to charge the electric car

For home - charging your car with solar power

Integrating the energy meter with the Green Wallbox 2 Pro allows you to charge your car only with surplus electricity fed into the grid. Maximize self-consumption and save on electricity.

For businesses

Smart charging with a Group Charging feature lets multiple electric vehicles charge at the same time, efficiently managing available power. Ideal for multi-bay parking, it uses charging infrastructure effectively without overloading the network. This saves energy costs and provides more convenience for employees with electric vehicles.

For homeowner association

Efficient energy management allows multiple electric vehicles to charge at once, preventing grid overload. Residents can charge without energy issues, and smart charging during off-peak hours lowers electricity bills. Convenient and accessible charging improves the electric vehicle experience. Using renewable energy sources and efficient charging supports sustainability and reduces the carbon footprint. Investing in modern charging tech also boosts property value and attracts eco-conscious buyers or tenants.

Our Smart Charging system, combining Dynamic Power Management with Group Charging, allows more charging stations to be installed in multifamily buildings than the current available power would typically permit. It does this by monitoring the entire building's power usage and utilizing available power for car charging. The intelligent power distribution evenly allocates charging power to all stations.

Using Smart Charging in multifamily buildings enables the installation of 11/22kW charging stations for each parking space, regardless of the building's available power capacity.

Our Smart Charging system isn't just for multifamily buildings! It's also useful for parking spaces in hotels, large parking lots, stores, and restaurants.

Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB)

Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB) monitors available energy resources and adjusts charging power among devices in real-time. If high-energy devices are active, DLB can lower car charging power to prevent overloading the network.

Eco charging

The eco charging feature ensures electric vehicles charge primarily when the solar system generates enough energy. This maximizes renewable energy usage and minimizes reliance on the electrical grid.

Within eco charging, there are two modes:

Standard mode - when there is no surplus from the solar installation, the car charges at 6A. When surplus energy is available, the charging rate increases.

Green mode - activates only when there is surplus energy from the installation (minimum 6A surplus).

Group charging available soon

Group charging

Group charging allows multiple electric vehicles to charge simultaneously using a single charging system. This feature is designed for multi-bay parking lots but is also useful in residential settings, such as when there's a need to charge two electric vehicles at once.

Group charging manages available power and distributes it among devices actively charging vehicles. The charging rate adjusts based on the number of vehicles connected.

How to set smart charging on?

Step 1: Choose wallbox

If you don't have our device yet, choose a wallbox based on power (kW), connection type (1 or 3 phases), fuse rating (16A or 32A), and plug model.

Step 2: Choose electricity meter

Energy meter is an essential component for integrating the wallbox with smart charging. You can find it below.

Step 3: Installation

The energy meter is installed at the main electrical input of the house. Additionally, an RJ10 cable (or Ethernet cable terminated with an RJ10 connector from the Wallbox side) is required.
